JOINT PROJECTS

Through its connections in different Institutes, EPCS is able to organize joint activities where resources are shared between participants. Examples are:

  • STANDARDIZATION OF OPERATIONAL CONTROLS OF EXPERIMENTAL PHYSICS EQUIPMENT ( e.g. power converters, beam instrumentation, vacuum, etc) 7 Institutes participated to this joint project.
  • PROFILE DEFINITION for VACUUM DEVICES (see below; 'Collaboration with Industry')
  • SOFTWARE ENGINEERING AND CASE TOOLS
  • FUTURE JET CONTROLS EPCS loaned its workstations (donated by DEC and HP) to JET to allow it to study the evolution of their controls.
  • HELP TO EASTERN EUROPE AND DEVELOPPING COUNTRIES EPCS lends its workstations that were donated by DEC and HP to allow control scientists in central and eastern Europe or in developping countries to build up experience with this technology. Beneficiaries are: the Czech Technical University, CTU.
  • GLOSSARY OF CONTROL TERMS

COLLABORATION WITH INDUSTRY

EPCS represents a global market to the industry. This puts EPCS in a position to encourage industry to undertake some developments of interest to the community (for example: PROFILE DEFINITION for VACUUM DEVICES). It also enables EPCS to negociate favorable conditions for all european member institutes when purchasing software licenses.
