OCP role
1. ROLE OF THE OFFICIAL CONTACT PERSON
As stated in Europhysics News Vol. 17, No. 5, May 1986, p.72, Official Contact Persons act as local representatives of the Interdivisional Group (in short: IDG) on Experimental Physics Control Systems (in short: EPCS) in their home organization. Inversely they officially represent the controls of their home organization in the IDG.
They are systematically informed on all matters concerning the IDG on EPCS and the decisions and recommendations made by its Board and transmit that information to EPCS members in their organization. Inversely they keep the EPCS Board informed on any significant happening relating to controls in their home organization.
To be more specific:- they are informed on the Board meetings and are invited to add to the proposed agenda any subject they feel may be of importance.
They may attend the Board meeting subject to prior consultation with
the Chairman.
- they receive the minutes of the Board meetings. - they receive any documents
issued by the member organizations which are believed to be of general relevance.
- they may suggest to the Board to create Workshops, Working Groups etc...
on specific subjects. Alternately, they are informed on such activities to
which they are invited to take an active part either in person or by nominating
a specialist who can speak for their organization.
2. CONDITION
Official Contact Persons should give evidence of extensive experience and preferably hold a position that allows suggestions made by the IDG to be followed by their organization. They should be nominated officially and in writing by their organization.A general prerequisite for anyone holding an "official" position in the IDG on EPCS, is that for fairness towards the European Physical Society who patronizes the IDG, they should be Individual Ordinary Members of the EPS.
